Alexandra (Ali) Jones is a New York based cellist. She enjoys the diversity of experiences and challenges that come with a freelance career. She has played or collaborated with the following artists and orchestras: Xiomara and Axel Laugart, On Site Opera, American Symphony Orchestra, Ron Carter, American Modern Ensemble, Troye Sivan, Bridgeport Symphony, Jacob Plasse, Shattered Glass, Landlady, ACME, Gil Goldstein, The Cape Symphony, The Eagles, Curtis Harding, Tenth Intervention, ensemble mise-en, The Gregory Brothers, and Lydia Ainsworth.
A committed pedagogue, Ali is on faculty at the United Nations International School and Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. She is involved in outreach programs through the Little Orchestra Society and NY Philharmonic Very Young Composers Program. Ali earned her Suzuki Teaching Certification from Pam Devenport at School for Strings.
Ali’s roots are in Minnesota, where she first played and taught the cello.
